摘要：We suggest that the whole ‘X-Neg-X’ module might be roughly split up into the functional part and the lexical part, the former of which is labeled as XP[+V], in which X equals V, Adj, Adv, or P, etc., while in the latter of which, ‘X-Neg-X’ should be viewed as a sub-part of the IP-system headed by Qu, which is in a universal sense parallel to the English do[+Qu], and more specifically, to Tense, Agr, and Neg. Considering the non-inflectional Chinese, some questions of which are inflectionally realized by ‘X-Neg-X’-Support, we predict that it is the [-Infl] or the weak [+Infl] that triggers the generation of the ‘X-Neg-X’ module. We hence hypothesize that some non-inflectional languages are inflectionally realized by the particular forms probably unique to the languages themselves, and that a particular inflectional form of the non-inflectional languages is probably universal in the non-inflectional world.
